We wish to bring to your attention an important update from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regarding the processing of import manifests.
Effective 20th January 2025, the New Tanzania Customs Integrated System (NTANCIS) will require all import manifests classified under "IMPORT" to include the Consignee’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). This requirement is part of an initiative to improve data accuracy, streamline customs processing, and enhance integration between shipping lines and Customs brokers.
Key Points to Note:
- Mandatory Requirement:
- The Consignee’s TIN must be included in the consignee’s disposition box for all Tanzanian local imports.
- Any manifest submitted without a valid TIN will be rejected by NTANCIS and will not be processed until the correct TIN is provided.
- Effective Dates:
- This requirement takes effect on 20th January 2025 for system implementation.
To ensure compliance and avoid delays in cargo clearance:
- Kindly provide the valid Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) of the consignee for all import shipments to Tanzania.
